The 26th Japanese Speech Contest (National Level)
The 26th Japanese Language Speech Contestwas held on August 8, 2010 at the Japan Club Kuala Lumpur.
The winner of the National Level is Mr. Chai Kok Seng, who is also the Open Category winner for the Ipoh Preliminary.
Mr. Chai won an 8-day study tour award to Japan.
The 31st Japanese Speech Contest 2010 (Penang Preliminary)
The 31st Japanese Language Speech Contest was held on July 31, 2010 at
the Caring Society Complex. This year, ten students participated in the “Student Category” while
six contestants took part in the “Open Category” and a speaker who had studied in Japan
joined in as a guest.
The objective of this contest is to deepen the understanding among Malaysian Japanese language
learners on the importance of cross-cultural communications by way of providing an opportunity
for Japanese language learners to express their opinions and thoughts in Japanese. This speech
contest is held annually and is organized by the Consulate-General of Japan in Penang and
the Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur with the co-operation of the Penang Japanese Language Society
and Malaysian Japanese Society.
The top three winners of the Open Category will represent Penang at the National Level Contest
in Kuala Lumpur on August 8, 2010. The first and second place winners of Open Category at the
finals will be rewarded all-paid study tour programme to Japan for 8 days.

The 24th Japanese Speech Contest 2010 (Ipoh Preliminary)
The Japanese Speech Contest (Ipoh Preliminary) was held on July 31, 2010 at the Ipoh City & Country Club.
Three contestants took part in each category in the contest. The winner for the “Student Category”
is Ms. Wong Kah Mun with her title “What I Have Learned” while Mr. Chai Kok Seng emerged as the
winner for the “Open Category” with his speech title “An Encounter and a Start”. Mr. Chai will
represent Ipoh at the National Level of Japanese Language Speech Contest in Kuala Lumpur which will
be held on August 8, 2010.
