School Visit with JAGAM-NB 2010
A school caravan was held at Heng Ee High School for approximately 100 Form 3 students on October 26, 2010. In this occasion, the Consulate-General of Japan and
JAGAM-NB (Japanese Graduates’ Association of Malaysia- Northern Branch) introduced the Japanese language and culture to the students.
The program started with a welcoming speech by Ms. Eriko Nishizawa, Vice-Consul of the Japanese Consulate and Mr. Tang Leang Chee and Mr. Ooi Sim Yang,
JAGAM members. Mr. Tan, Vice-President of JAGAM-NB then explained to the students about the JAGAM organization in Penang and study
opportunities in Japan.
The students were shown two videos which introduce the overview of the Japanese culture with the latter explaining and showing the
types of houses where the Japanese people live and the food they take in their daily life.
Mr. Ooi from JAGAM taught the students some basic Japanese conversation. The students were excited as it was their first time
learning to speak Japanese.

Students were also taught to make Origami. They made a Jack-O’-Lantern and a maple leaf associated
with the current fall season in Japan.
