Ipoh Bon Odori 2016

On Saturday, 9 July, Bon Odori Festival was held in Ipoh, Perak and about 8000 people enjoyed the traditional Japanese summer festival. The Ipoh Bon Odori 2016 was organized by Sin Chew Daily and co-organized by Perak Malaysian-Japanese Friendship Society, Japan Club Ipoh, Japan Foundation KL, Consulate-General of Japan in Penang and others.
At the opening, Mr. Tan Chee Yuen, Group COO of Sin Chew Media Corporation Bhd, Dato’ Dr Mah Hang Soon, Executive Councilor for Health, Public Transport, Non-Islamic Affairs, National Integration and New Village Committee of State of Perak and Consul-General Itoi made speeches. Consul-General Itoi stated that it was very significant to organize a bon odori festival in Ipoh which was known among Japanese people as friendly and livable place and hoped the Bon Odori Festival to be a venue for further deepening mutual understanding between Malaysia and Japan.
