The 34th Japanese Language Speech Contest (Penang Preliminary)
The 34th Japanese Language Speech Contest was held on 18th May 2013 at the Caring Society Complex, Penang.
This speech contest is jointly organized by the Consulate-General of Japan in Penang and the Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur with the co-operation of the Penang Japanese Language Society, Penang Japanese Association and Malaysian Japanese Society.
This annual contest aims to provide local Japanese language students a platform to express their opinions and views, as well as to foster friendship between the people from the two countries. This event was more meaningful this year as Japan government and ASEAN countries commemorate the 40th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation.

The Japanese Speech Contest (Ipoh Preliminary) was also held on 18th May 2013 at the Ipoh City & Country Club. This year there were 8 contestants took part in the contest.

The 29th Japanese Speech Contest for Open Category (National Level)
The National Level Japanese Speech Contest 2013 was held at The Japanese Club at Kuala Lumpur on 26th May 2013. Ms. Choo Seah Ling and Ms.Widad Damia Binti Azman, the representatives from the Penang preliminary won the 4th and 5th prize at the National level contest respectively.
