Traditional Japanese Hairdo and Kimono Demonstration
The Traditional Japanese Hairdo and Kimono Demonstration by master kimono dresser, Fumi Kobayashi was held at Queensbay Mall, Penang on
Sunday, 31st January 2010. During the event models paraded the stage in colourful traditional Japanese attire such as the kimono and
yukata interspersed with Japanese traditional dances such as Niho Buyo and Yosakoi.
Master Kobayashi who was invited to the event to do a hairdo and kimono dressing demonstration was seen dressing a model in
beautiful traditional wedding kimono and designing an elaborate hairdo called the bunkin-takashimada.
Master Kobayashi, an owner of a very successful wedding and kimono studio hails from Nikko in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.
She is an All-Japan Champion Kimono Dresser having won the prestigious competition in 2000. She has 45 years of
experience in doing kimono wedding, hairdo and make-up.
This event was organized by Malaysian-Japanese Society and the Pink Hibiscus Club and was supported by the
Consulate-General of Japan, Penang, JAGAM and SEGi College Penang.
