MOEPA Autumn Skill Sharing Workshop

The Japanese Cosplay workshop, “MOEPA (Moe* Party) Autumn Skill Sharing Workshop” was held by Konatsu and the Lost Gospel Cosplay Community in Penang on 4th September. Approximately 150 cosplayers and fans of Japanese anime, comics and games attended the workshop.

During the workshop, cosplay enthusiasts learned how to upgrade their cosplaying skills such as make-up techniques, wig styling skills, etc. Other highlights for the day included the digital art editing workshop and stage performances. A maid café was also set up at the venue and guests were served by waitresses wearing “maid” costume.

The MOEPA workshop was held to promote cosplay, Japanese anime, comic and games with a view to building better understanding of the modern Japanese culture which is gaining fast popularity among youths in the world.

This event was organized by Konatsu with the support by the Consulate-General of Japan in Penang.

*Moe (萌え): Original meaning is “budding” as with a plant in Japanese. Now it is used to mean “adorable” or “cute” as applied to anime characters.
