Attendance at 40th Anniversary of TORAY
     
    Consul – General Ryuji Noda attended Ceremony of 40th Anniversary of Toray Group in Malaysia.
     
    Chief Minister of Penang, Lim Guan Eng, Deputy Secretary General of MITI, Dato’ Nik Rahmat Nik Taib, Chairman of Toray Industries, Inc., Japan, Sadayuki Sakakibara, President, CEO and COO of Toray Industries, Inc., Japan, Akihiro Nikkaku, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, Shigeru Nakamura and many other guests attended the ceremony.
     
  Through its display, Toray introduced their wide range of business such as fibers & textile and resin as their core business and water treatment system as expanding business at the venue. Their concept car “Teewave”, made of Toray’s carbon fiber composite, also attracted invited guests.
 
   Toray initially established its fiber and textile factory in Malaysia in the 1970s and later expanded to other factories of plastic resins, PBT resins and so on. Currently, Toray Industries (Malaysia), as the Head quarter of Toray Group (Malaysia), is operating 5 companies in Malaysia. Toray is one of the single largest investors in Penang and with 4 billion RM investments to date. Toray plans additional 1 billion RM investment in Malaysia by 2020. 3000 Malaysians are employed in Toray now.
 
   Toray has already conducted various CSR(Corporate Social Responsibility) activities. On this memorial occasion of 40th anniversary, Toray announced that it would sponsor 4 million RM to University of Science Malaysia( USM) for constructing “ Toray USM Knowledge Transfer Center”, expected to be completed by 2015.
 
  Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng highly valued Toray’s corporate activity and appreciated their CSR activities. He expressed his hope that Penang continue to welcome and facilitate Japanese companies’ activities.
