Consul-General of Japan at Penang, Noda, attended the “Visit Japan Travel Trade Meet” on March 17, 2014 at E & O Hotel.
The “Visit Japan Travel Trade Meet” was organised by Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) to provide a face-to-face opportunity for Japanese representatives from local authorities, travelling sector to brief the tour operators in Penang on Japan’s major tourist attractions and to make business negotiation among themselves. 18 Japanese groups and 44 Malaysian participants joined in Penang. Similar seminar was held in Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu respectively.
Mr. Noda, in his opening remarks, said the number of Malaysian visitors to Japan last year showed record high at 176,500 which was equivalent to an increase of 35.6% as compared to previous year. This growth is attributed not only to the Visa waiver for short-term stay for visitors from Malaysia, but also to the cooperation and efforts of the travel agents. Mr. Noda looked forward to their continued cooperation and welcomed more Malaysians to visit Japan. |
