Foreign Minister's Commendations for FY 2014

(Penang, 19 September) The Foreign Minister's Commendations award ceremony was held at the official residence of Consul-General of Japan, Mr. Ryuji NODA. Perak Malaysian-Japanese Friendship Society from the State of Perak, Malaysia was presented the certificate of commendation of Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan for the fiscal year 2014. The Society has been promoting mutual understanding between Japan and Malaysia for almost 30 years.

    Mr. Noda congratulated the Society and commended their achievements in sharing Japanese culture and language with local people and bonding Malaysian and Japanese people, or playing a role of “Kizuna”. He wished their support and cooperation towards strengthening ties between Perak, Malaysia and Japan would continue.

    The Foreign Minister's Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups of outstanding achievements in international fields, to acknowledge their contribution to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries. The Commendation also aims to promote the understanding and support of the Japanese public for their activities.

    This year, the Commendation has been awarded to 108 individuals and 30 groups (of which 20 individuals and 10 groups are from Japan, and 88 individuals and 20 groups from overseas).
