Consul-General’s Visit to TOYOBO TEXTILE (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD.

On October 1st, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, visited TOYOBO TEXTILE (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. in Kuala Kangsar, Perak, where he received a briefing from Mr. Naoki Nakayama, Managing Director, and other representatives of the company on its business operations and toured its spinning and weaving facilities.
TOYOBO TEXTILE (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. has operated as one of the Toyobo Group’s textile manufacturing based in Malaysia for approximately 50 years, with its operations centred in Kuala Kangsar. The company undertakes spinning and weaving using a wide variety of materials, including cotton, polyester, and rayon, and manufactures a diverse range of products tailored to different applications and customer needs, including high-quality fabrics for the Middle Eastern market.
During the visit, Mr. Machida received explanations on the entire manufacturing process, from the selection and blending of raw cotton to opening, carding, combing, spinning, warping, sizing, weaving and quality inspection. The company also introduced its efforts to combine natural and synthetic fibres to make use of the respective characteristics of different materials, as well as initiatives to enhance quality, automation and labour-saving measures based on its long-standing expertise in spinning and textile manufacturing.
Mr. Machida expressed his appreciation for the company’s long-standing contribution to employment in Kuala Kangsar and to the development of Malaysia’s manufacturing sector and noted that the visit provided a valuable opportunity to deepen his understanding of the advanced technology and accumulated manufacturing expertise behind familiar textile products. The Consulate-General of Japan in Penang will continue to deepen its understanding of Japanese companies operating in northern Malaysia through company visits and other activities, while working to further strengthen economic relations between Japan and Malaysia.
