Meeting with Mr. Jasmon Lim, Director of Penang Operations, PKT Logistics Group, and Chief Operating Officer of The SHIP Campus

On September 25th, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, met with Mr. Jasmon Lim, Director of Penang Operations, PKT Logistics Group, and Chief Operating Officer of The SHIP Campus. The SHIP Campus, located in Batu Kawan, Penang, is an education and industry engagement hub centred around Peninsula College and developed by PKT Logistics Group.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on the development of Penang’s semiconductor and advanced industries, new foreign investment, and emerging business opportunities for related companies and start-ups. Mr. Lim expressed his interest in creating more opportunities to connect Japanese technology-oriented SMEs and start-ups with Penang companies, building on Penang’s strong semiconductor and manufacturing base.
They also discussed possible people-to-people and educational exchanges involving Japanese researchers, entrepreneurs and students through The SHIP Campus and Peninsula College, as well as Japanese cultural activities. Mr. Machida expressed his hope to further expand new collaboration among companies, start-ups, universities and researchers in Japan and Penang. They also exchanged views on further opportunities for cooperation, including cultural exchanges related to the Japanese Film Festival and new initiatives towards the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Malaysia in 2027.
The Consulate-General of Japan in Penang will continue to deepen exchanges and dialogue with PKT Logistics Group and other Malaysian companies, while creating new connections among companies, start-ups, universities and younger generations in Japan and Penang, and further strengthening Japan-Penang relations across a wide range of fields, including industry, education, and culture.
