Courtesy Call by OISCA Hamamatsu Kokusai High School

On August 21st, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, received a courtesy call from Mr. Kiichiro Muramatsu, Vice Principal of OISCA Hamamatsu Kokusai High School, who was visiting Penang to participate in the JAGAM Japan Education Fair.
During the meeting, Mr. Muramatsu explained the school’s acceptance of foreign and international students, Japanese-language education and dormitory life, as well as pathways for students to continue their studies at universities and other institutions in Japan. They also exchanged views on efforts to attract more students from Malaysia and on the potential for expanding opportunities to experience high school education in Japan through short-term programmes and school-to-school exchanges.
Mr. Machida noted that, while high school study in Japan is not yet as common among Malaysian students as study at the university level, short-term programmes and school exchanges could provide valuable opportunities for Malaysian students to experience Japanese high school education firsthand. He also expressed his hope that exchanges would continue to develop through networks with schools in Penang and alumni of study programmes in Japan. The Consulate-General will continue to promote educational and people-to-people exchanges between Japan and Malaysia.
