Meeting with PwC Malaysia Representatives

          On August 17th, Mr Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, exchanged views with Mr Lim Huck Khiam, Partner at PwC Malaysia and Vice-Chairman of the Northern Branch of the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI), and Mr Yuichi Sugiyama, Partner and Japanese Business Leader at PwC Malaysia.
   
          During the meeting, they exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including the activities of Japanese companies and the investment environment in Malaysia and Penang, the development of Penang’s economy, particularly its electrical and electronics (E&E) and semiconductor industries, and cooperation between local and Japanese companies. Drawing on PwC’s extensive experience in supporting Japanese companies in Malaysia, they also discussed changes in the business environment surrounding Japanese companies and potential new areas for future cooperation.
   
          They further exchanged views on how Penang can leverage its strengths, including its industrial base, human resources and international networks, to foster higher value-added industries. They also shared the importance of further promoting exchanges between Japanese SMEs and companies and business organisations in Penang.
   
          The Consulate-General of Japan in Penang will continue to deepen dialogue with the local business community, including PwC and MICCI, strengthen networks between Japanese companies and companies and relevant organisations in Penang, and contribute to the further development of economic relations between Japan and northern Malaysia.
