Consul-General Visits Greatech Technology

          On August 12th, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, visited Greatech Technology, a Penang-based factory automation company, and exchanged views with Dato’ Seri Tan Eng Kee, Chief Executive Officer, and another representative of the company.
 
          The company provided an overview of its business, including the design and manufacture of automation equipment for various industries, as well as its efforts to enhance its technological capabilities, develop human resources and expand its business internationally.
 
          During the exchange, the participants discussed the importance of human resources and technology in further advancing Penang’s manufacturing sector, as well as the potential for collaboration with Japanese companies and human-resource exchanges through internships and other programmes for Japanese and Malaysian university students. Consul-General Machida expressed his respect for the company’s efforts to support global manufacturing from its base in Penang and stated that he would continue working to promote collaboration and human-resource exchanges between Japanese companies and universities and local companies.
 
          The Consulate-General will continue to gain a better understanding of the current state of the northern Malaysian economy through visits to Malaysian companies and other activities, while making every possible effort to advance mutually complementary economic cooperation between Japan and Malaysia.
