Consul-General Attends a Visit to Inokom and a Tour of Mazda Vehicle Assembly Facilities

On August 5th, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, visited Inokom Corporation Sdn Bhd in Kulim, Kedah, where he received briefings on the company and Mazda-related operations from Mr. Sui Keng Huat, Managing Director of Inokom Corporation Sdn Bhd; Mr. Takahiro Masuoka, President of Mazda Malaysia Sdn Bhd; Mr. Michael Tio, Chief Executive Officer of PKT Logistics Group; and other representatives.
Inokom assembles vehicles for multiple automotive brands and also produces Mazda vehicles in cooperation with local companies. During the briefing, the representatives introduced their efforts to develop Malaysian human resources and to share production technologies, quality-control practices and continuous improvement methods through cooperation with Japanese companies.
Mr. Machida toured facilities related to the painting, body production, final assembly, inspection and dispatch of Mazda vehicles. During the tour, he received explanations on how Malaysian employees are applying technologies introduced from Japan, as well as methods such as Kaizen and Karakuri Kaizen, while developing their own improvements to enhance productivity and quality.
Through the visit, Mr. Machida deepened his understanding of how cooperation between Japanese and Malaysian companies contributes to the development of local human resources and the growth of the automotive-related industry. The Consulate-General of Japan in Penang will continue to support the activities of Japanese companies in the region and the further development of economic relations between Japan and Malaysia.
