Consul-General Attends the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Penang Port Commission

On August 1st, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, attended the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Penang Port Commission (PPC).
The celebration was hosted by Dato’ Yeoh Soon Hin, Chairman of the Penang Port Commission, with Tun Ramli Ngah Talib, Governor of Penang, serving as the Guest of Honour. The event was attended by representatives of the Federal Government and the Penang State Government, members of the consular corps, and representatives from the maritime, port and business communities. The programme highlighted the Penang Port Commission’s 70-year history and future vision and also included charitable activities as part of its contribution to the local community.
During the event, Mr. Machida exchanged views with government officials and representatives from the maritime, port and business sectors and deepened his understanding of the Penang Port Commission’s initiatives as well as the current state of the port and logistics sector in Northern Malaysia.
The Consulate-General of Japan will continue to promote economic and people-to-people exchanges between Japan and Penang, including cooperation in the port and logistics sectors.
