Consul-General’s Visit to MEP Enviro Technology

On July 23rd, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, visited MEP Enviro Technology Sdn. Bhd., a comprehensive waste management company based in Penang, and exchanged views with Dato’ Ivan Ong, Managing Director, and other company representatives.
MEP explained that it engages in the collection, treatment and recycling of electronic waste, waste plastics, and ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The company also highlighted its strengths in processing waste and recovering precious metals from semiconductor-related and medical companies concentrated in Penang.
Mr. Machida toured the company’s precious-metal recovery and waste-plastic sorting and recycling processes and deepened his understanding of its initiatives for environmental protection, resource circulation, and the protection of information and intellectual property. The Consulate-General will continue to support cooperation between Japanese and Penang-based companies and initiatives toward sustainable industrial development.
