Consul-General’s Attendance at the Opening Ceremony of EMAX 2026

On July 22nd, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, attended the opening ceremony of Electronics Manufacturing Expo Asia 2026 (EMAX 2026) at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre. EMAX is an international exhibition bringing together companies and industry representatives in such fields as electrical and electronic equipment, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, industrial automation, robotics, and smart factories. This year’s exhibition featured more than 250 brands from over 20 countries.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Kenny Yong, Chief Executive Officer of NRG Exhibitions, the organiser of the event, and Mr. Terence Teo, President of AutomationSG, a Singapore-based industry association, delivered welcoming remarks. Subsequently, Mr. Sim Tze Tzin, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, emphasised that the semiconductor industry is supported by closely interconnected cross-border supply chains. He also highlighted the need to further promote the growth of Malaysia’s electrical and electronics industry, collaboration with local companies, the automation and smartification of manufacturing facilities, and the development of highly skilled talent.
With the support of the Tokyo Metropolitan Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center, seven leading small and medium-sized enterprises from Tokyo participated in EMAX at the Tokyo Pavilion. The companies showcased semiconductor-related equipment, precision processing technologies, analytical equipment, and other products and technologies, while actively engaging in business discussions and exchanges with local companies.
The Consulate-General of Japan in Penang will continue to work with relevant organisations to support exchanges and business collaboration between Japanese and Malaysian companies.
