Consul-General’s Visit to SkyeChip Berhad

On July 21st, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, visited SkyeChip Berhad, a semiconductor design company based in Penang, and exchanged views with Mr. Teh Chee Hak, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, and another representative of the company.
Mr. Teh and his colleague briefed Mr. Machida on the company’s semiconductor design activities for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing, its development of highly skilled talent, its collaboration with universities, and its efforts to contribute to the advancement of Malaysia’s semiconductor industry.
Mr. Machida highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation between Japanese companies and Penang’s semiconductor industry. Both sides exchanged views on possible future collaboration in the fields of semiconductors, talent development and technological innovation. The Consulate-General will continue to deepen its understanding of Penang’s economy and industries, including the semiconductor sector, and will devote its utmost efforts, however modest, to further strengthening economic cooperation between Japan and Malaysia, including Penang.
