On July 20th, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, attended an exchange of views between the Tokyo Metropolitan Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center and the Northern Branch of the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI), held at Fumakilla Malaysia.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on Penang’s and northern Malaysia’s industrial base, cooperation with local companies, and opportunities for Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises to develop their businesses in the Malaysian market. Initiatives to support Tokyo-based SMEs participating in trade exhibitions and establishing business partnerships with local companies were also introduced.

Mr. Machida referred to the longstanding economic relationship between Japan and Penang and expressed his hope that new partnerships between Japanese and Malaysian companies would contribute to the economic development of both sides and the creation of further business opportunities. The Consulate-General will continue to provide as much support as possible to Japanese companies with advanced technologies seeking to develop their businesses in this region.
