Consul-General’s Visit to the Penang Development Corporation

On July 2nd, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, visited the Penang Development Corporation (PDC) and held discussions with Mr. Abdul Latiff Abd Aziz, Chief Executive Officer of PDC.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on Penang’s industrial development, efforts to attract high-value investment, particularly in the electrical and electronics sector, and initiatives to nurture local technology companies and startups. Mr. Abdul Latiff also expressed his hope to expand training and personnel exchanges with Japanese organisations and companies in order to learn from Japanese working practices and expertise in areas such as environmental and energy technologies.
Mr. Machida expressed his respect for PDC’s longstanding contribution to Penang’s industrial development and economic growth. He also reaffirmed that the Consulate-General of Japan in Penang will further strengthen its cooperation with PDC, support the activities of Japanese companies, and promote investment, human resource development and technological exchanges, thereby contributing to closer relations between Japan and the State of Penang.
