Consul-General’s Attendance at the 2026 Penang State Honours Investiture Ceremony in Conjunction with the 85th Birthday Celebration of the Governor of Penang

On July 11th, Consul-General Shinya Machida attended the Istiadat Penganugerahan Darjah Kebesaran, Bintang dan Pingat Kehormatan Negeri Pulau Pinang Tahun 2026, held in conjunction with the Hari Ulang Tahun Ke-85 Tuan Yang Terutama Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang, at Dewan Sri Pinang.

During the ceremony, birthday wishes were extended to the Governor of Penang, Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Ramli bin Ngah Talib, and state honours were conferred upon recipients in recognition of their contributions to the State. Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow also delivered a congratulatory address and a report on the State Government’s initiatives, including economic growth, investment promotion, major infrastructure development, environmental conservation and digital transformation.

The recipients included several individuals who have close ties with the Consulate-General of Japan in Penang and the Japanese community in Penang. We pay tribute to their contributions and extend our warmest congratulations to all the recipients.

The ceremony also provided Consul-General Machida with an opportunity to engage with representatives of the Penang State Government and distinguished guests from various sectors, while reaffirming the importance of further strengthening cooperation between Japan and Penang.

The Consulate-General of Japan in Penang will continue to deepen its cooperation with the Penang State Government and other stakeholders, and further promote the friendship between Japan and Malaysia.
