Consul General’s Presentation on Japan’s Political and Economic Situation at the Penang Premium Business Enterprise Association (PPBEA)

On May 21, Mr. Shinya MACHIDA, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, was invited by the Penang Premium Business Enterprise Association (PPBEA) to give a presentation on recent developments in Japanese politics and the economy. The PPBEA is an association of leading Penang companies founded by Dato’ Seri Khor Teng Tong, the founder of local firm Hunza Property, and maintains strong ties with the Penang State Government. Mr. Machida began his presentation by discussing post-war Japanese politics and argued that, thanks to the current TAKAICHI administration’s proactive foreign, defense, and economic (security) policies, Japan is finally emerging from its “Lost 30 Years.” We hope this presentation will contribute to further strengthening cooperation between Japan and Penang/Malaysia.
