Consul-General’s Participation in the 15th Asian Chemical Fiber Industries Federation Conference
2026/5/14
On May 14th, Mr. Shinya MACHIDA, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, attended the opening ceremony and dinner reception for the 15th Asian Chemical Fiber Industries Federation (ACFIF) Conference, held at a local hotel. ACFIF was founded in 1996 by Mr. Sadayuki SAKAKIBARA, Chairman of Toray Industries, with the aim of promoting the development of the chemical fiber industry and international cooperation in the Asian region. Its member countries include Japan, China, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Pakistan. The fact that YB Steven Sim, Minister for Entrepreneurship and Cooperative Development, and others delivered remarks at the opening ceremony, and that YAB Mr. Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang, spoke at the dinner, clearly demonstrated the importance of this conference. It is wonderful that industrial cooperation among Asia’s key industries has been fostered under Japan’s leadership. We intend to continue supporting these efforts in the future.
