Consul-General Machida Participates in Local Environmental Protection Activities
2026/4/26
On April 26th, Mr. Shinya MACHIDA, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, joined Emi Yamazaki of the “Pink Hibiscus Club” in a cleanup effort on Gazunbo Island (an uninhabited island off the coast of Penang First Bridge) organized by Penang City Hall officials, the Penang Youth Development Corporation, and approximately 120 secondary school students. Gazunbo Island was littered with a large amount of plastic waste and other debris, and the group was able to collect approximately 800 kilograms of trash in about two hours. We hope to not only engage in one-sided efforts to introduce Japanese culture but also to strengthen our contributions to addressing local social issues.
