On March 9, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, attended the closing ceremony of the “UUM (Universiti Utara Malaysia)/KSU (Kyoto Sangyo University) Summer Program 2026” held at UUM in Sintok, Kedah, and delivered remarks. This program has been held annually between the two universities since 2020, with a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unlike Kuala Lumpur or Penang, the location near the Thai border and the opportunity to experience a university specializing in business (with many graduates entering the logistics industry) likely provided a unique experience for the 25 second-year students from Kyoto Sangyo University. In his remarks, Mr. Machida noted the active cooperation between Japanese and Malaysian universities and expressed his hope that the students would be able to apply this experience to their future endeavors.
