Consul-General Attends a MATTA Event

On January 30^th, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, attended the MATTA (Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents) Penang Chapter Networking Dinner & Fellowship Night (attended by Penang State EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy) for the second consecutive year. MATTA (established in 1975) is the representative body for Malaysia's domestic travel industry, with approximately 3,000 member companies and headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. The Penang branch is also quite strong, and this time, many members of the local consular corps were invited. This time, officials in charge of tourism promotion from the Tottori Prefectural Government also visited. The Consulate-General hopes to promote tourism to Japan while preventing overtourism.
