Consul-General's Visit to Terengganu (2): Courtesy Call on Chief Minister Samsuri

On January 15, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, paid a courtesy call on, The Honorable Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Samsuri Bin Mokhtar, Chief Minister of Terengganu. Mr. Machida explained to the Chief Minister that although small in scale, Japanese companies and residents are operating and residing in Terengganu State, behaving as “good citizens.” They exchanged views on potential areas of cooperation between Japan and Terengganu. Chief Minister Samsuri, who has experience working for a Japanese company and is regarded as a capable technocrat, is someone with whom the Consulate-General intends to maintain contact as opportunities arise, including for public relations regarding Japan's policies.
