Visit by Representatives of the Penang Centre for Medical Tourism (P MED) to Our Consulate

On November 18th, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, received a courtesy call from a delegation of the Penang Centre for Medical Tourism (P MED), an organization of hospitals and other medical entities promoting “medical tourism” in Penang. During this meeting, it was noted that Indonesia is overwhelmingly the primary target market for medical tourism in Penang, which is known for providing affordable yet high-quality medical services. Japan, due to its high medical standards, is not a major target. However, PMED members expressed a willingness to provide medical services to Japanese nationals residing locally, including MM2H holders. As ensuring the safety and security of Japanese nationals living here is one of the Consulate General's priority tasks, we aim to deepen its relationship with PMED members to gain a more thorough understanding of the local medical situation.
