Consul General Machida's Activities Related to the Osaka-Kansai Expo “Penang Week”

Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, who attended Chow Kong Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang, on his Japan visit to attend the Penang Week (September 22-26) at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, accompanied the Chief Minister on his inspection of “Nakanoshima QROSS” and the Suita City Resource Recycling Center on September 25th. On the 26th, Mr. Mahcida also accompanied the Chief Minister on an inspection of Kansai Airport, including the FedEx JAPAN Logistics Center. This inspection reaffirmed Penang State's future goals of promoting the medical research/business, solving serious urban problems, and developing Penang as a logistics hub. In addition to the Chief Minister, Penang State EXCOs and officials visited Japan around the same time on various themes. The Consulate-General of Japan intends to hear about the outcomes of these visits and follow up as appropriate.
After parting ways with the Chief Minister's delegation, Mr. Machida met with senior officials responsible for international relations in Osaka City. He heard about the current state of inter-city exchanges involving Osaka City and exchanged views on the potential for future collaboration between Osaka City and Penang.
