Consul-General's Activities Related to the Osaka-Kansai Expo “Penang Week”

Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, who attended Chow Kong Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang, on his Japan visit to attend the Penang Week (September 22-26) at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, attended the opening ceremony of “Penang Week” at the Malaysia Pavilion on September 24th. At this opening ceremony, the Chief Minister introduced economic development initiatives such as Penang Silicon Island while declaring the opening by striking a Malay-style drum. He then witnessed the exchange of several MOUs and delivered opening remarks at the Malaysia Investment Seminar, touching on Penang Silicon Island. The business matching session held after this seminar continued until 6:00 PM that same day. We hope that such event will foster the seeds of mutually beneficial business opportunities. Additionally, Mr. Machida arranged an interview for the Chief Minister with a business journalist and provided support to help interested Japanese companies understand Penang's future economic prospects, including DX initiatives.
