Consul-General attends special screening for Japanese Film Festival

On September 17th, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, attended a special screening of Japanese film held at the Hin Bus Depot in Georgetown. This event preceded the Japan Foundation's Japanese Film Festival, held in Penang from 18th to 21st September. The screening featured the 2023 film “River: Don't Flow Away”. Approximately 60 attendees were present at the screening, where the film's combination of the time loop theme with the setting of Kyoto's Kibune generated considerable excitement. The Consulate-General will continue to focus on introducing Japanese culture, including cinema.
