Consul General meets with Toyohashi International Association

Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul-General of Japan in Penang, on May 7, when temporarily back in Japan, met with Mr. Takayoshi Matsui, President of the Toyohashi International Association (TIA) and his team. During this meeting, Mr. Machida was briefed an overview of the Toyohashi Global Youth Challenge, TIA’s new program for Toyohashi youths to visit Penang this summer. He also learned about the difficulties Toyohashi has faced to date in accepting foreign residents and the measures it has taken to live with them. Toyohashi City’s close-knit local community, it seems, has been a strong factor in better accepting foreign residents. The Consulate -General will to continue to support internationalization in a way to strengthen the local governments and communities.
