Penang International JICA Judo Championship

On April 12, Mr. Shinya MACHIDA, Consul General of Japan in Penang, attended the official opening of the Penang International JICA Judo Championship held in Penang. This Judo Championship was an international competition of 500 competitors from more than 10 countries and region, including Judo clubs in Malaysian states and ASEAN countries, with the view of expressing appreciation for JICA's contribution to Malaysia over decades. The Malaysian Judo Federation hosted the event, and JICA Volunteer Coordinator Mr. Asai and Judo Volunteer Mr. Chikara Matsuoka were also present. The Consulate-General hopes to promote cultural and sports exchange between Japan and Malaysia by promoting judo, a Japanese martial art and wishes to contribute to the sound physical development of Malaysian youths.
