Penang Bon Odori Pop-Up Fest

On July 20 and 21, Penang Bon Odori Pop-Up Fest, a Japanese cultural introduction event, was held at the 1st Avenue. The very lively event drew crowds of people, with the Bon Odori dance experience and Preliminary round of Miss Penang Bon Odori 2024, many Japan-related goods, food and drink stalls, and many more. Consul General Kawaguchi attended the event dressed in “yukata”, and the Consulate set up a booth to conduct origami and kirigami workshops and display Japanese cultural items.
Finally, for the first time in two years, Penang Bon Odori Festival 2024 will be held on July 27, from 17:00 to 23:00 at the Esplanade (Padang Kota Lama). Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the Japanese summer tradition of Bon Odori festival.
