Handover ceremony for the Grassroots Assistance for Human Security Project 2021

On 8 March, the handover ceremony for the Grassroots  Assistance for Human Security Project 2021 was held at Rumah Seri Kenangan Project Site to the Cooperative Society for People with Disabilities. 
 
The Government of Japan, awarded USD 71,138 (equivalent to RM295,624.99) through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project to Co-operative Society, The Project for the Empowerment of Young Adults with Intellectual Disabilities Through Agriculture and Livestock.
 
The handover ceremony was witnessed by Y. Bhg. Professor Dato’ Ir. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed, Vice-Chancellor, University Science Malaysia, Professor Dr. Shaharum Shamsuddin, Director, USM Health Campus, Mr. Said Sidup, Director of Kelantan State Welfare Department, Mr. Zainudin Mohamed, Director of Kelantan Malaysia Co-operative Societies Commission, Associate Professor Dr. Ahmad Fahmi Lim Abdullah, Deputy Dean  (Academic and Students Affairs) and Dr. Mohd Zulkifli Abdul Rahim, Chairman of Co-operative Society for People with Disabilities and Head of Project.
 
Head of project, Dr. Zulkifli Abdul Rahim thanked the government and the people of Japan for the grant. He said this project, with the objective to provide agriculture training, will benefit young adults with intellectual disabilities as well as trainers from 45 CBR (Community Based Rehabilitation) center in 10 districts in the state.
 
Vice Chancellor of USM, Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed expressed his highest  gratitude and appreciation to the government of Japan for the grant which can help improve the livelihood of the people with intellectual disabilities.
 
Consul General Mr. Kawaguchi said in his speech that this project serves as a symbol of goodwill and close relationships between the people of Japan and Malaysians. He hopes that the infrastructure will be put into effective use for as long period as possible for the benefit of persons with intellectual disabilities.
